Holika Holika

Hi, today I want to talk about Holika Holika.

Holika Holika means "addiction" and "temptation" the addiction comes from the English suffix -holic and the Korean word "holida" meaning temptation.

The brand has a concept of magical theme there logo has a witch flying on a broomstick, also many of their products are in purple colours (different shades of purple), blue and black with butterflies, stars and other intriguing packaging designs. I am especially in love with their magic drop perfume which is packaged like a potion bag. Its so pretty ^^ Also, the packaging uses a lot of sparkles~~~ if you like magic then maybe you'll like this brand. It also very popular amongst teenagers and young women.

I really hope to be able to use products from this brand and I super hope they don't disappoint me with my sensitive skin, I'm always apprehensive to try products out, because I always worry, will it make me itchy. ~~~ tell me in the comments section if you like Holika Holika products and whether, you like the products or not?

In my next post, I'll show you some products that I got from Holika Holika.

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation Review

Hi, I'm back with another review this is the Fit Me Maybelline Foundation in shade 125, so this isn't the exact shade for me. I picked out the wrong one, its a shade darker (I feel) for me. Its not obvious but yeah. This was my first foundation that I bought and what I didn't realise was that with foundation, you test it on your jawline. I was always told that because tester products have been on hundreds on people, its unhygenic to apply i.e liptstick to directly on your lips, instead you swatch it either on the back of your hand or your wrist. So I tested foundation on the back on of my hand *I know, I failed but I'm pretty new to make up*

So, yeah~ also, I'm pretty fair "milky" skin tone. Although, I think a thin layer of this foundation is good and I will finish it off before trying out other BB creams & foundation. Any recommendations than drop a comment in the comments section? I'm looking for light to medium coverage.

Okay lets go!

Product Description (taken from their website).

Why You'll Love It It's face makeup that fits you.
  • No oils, no waxes, no nonsense
  • Natural coverage that leaves skin the way it was meant to be... Fresh, breathing, flawless
  • Exclusive translucent base and lightweight pigments allow skin's natural highs and lows to show through
  • Seamless blending for light to medium coverage
  • Non-comedogenic, dermatologist tested
  • Available in 18 breathable shades
  • SPF 18*.
*For all shades except 330, 340, 360
For Best Results Apply evenly to your face and blend with your fingertips.

Packaging is really boring compared to Japanese & Korean brands. Its in a glass rectangle tube thing with a black cap. The name of the product is on the product and the name of the brand. My one is in shade 125. There is 30ml of product (way more than enough, I don't wear foundation, every time I wear make up). It lasts for 24 months (2 years). Its also a pump product so you won't end up squeezing out too much product and wasting it. YAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!

Scent

There isn't a particular smell, it just smells pleasent enough to apply on your face. I can't see anyone having a problem with this.

Product

There are 18 shades. My shade 125 is also known as "Nude Beige" , I'd probably should of tried "Ivory" or "Natural Ivory" to get closer to my skin tone. Oh well :(. The product is thick and glides onto the skin really well, its easy to blend into the skintone and you can you build up the converage, giving off a natural colour. Although, I don't know if I got the wrong shade or something but when I apply too much. I always end up looking orange and this usually, happens if I have pimples or break out and I try to cover up the redness.

This is how the product looks like when pumped out of the bottle

 A swatch of the foundation.

Roughly blended

The top half of my hand is withouth the foundation and the bottom half, is with foundation.
I think you can see the difference between the skintones *LOL*.

Thumbs Up

Lots of shades
Good coverage
No unpleasent smell

Thumbs Down

Packaging is a little boring for me.

^^ I would recommend this for others, however I'd probably won't re-purchase this because I want to try something else and I like products with cute packaging. I hope to see you in my next review.

Banana Boat Kids Powder-Dri Sunscreen

Hi, before I go onto skincare or cosmetics review. I decided to do a review on sunscreen that I use because the weather is warming up and its important to weather sunscreen even when its not sunny. Yes, grey days and rainy days are also sunscreen wearing days too (don't worry, I only learnt this recently from my mum too). The sun rays are strong enough to penetrate through clouds and stuff so it doesn't matter if you can't see the sun. It can still see you and burn you. So princes and princesses take care of your skin.

I use a kids sunscreen (I think sunscreen is more suitable for sensitive skin because children called Banana Boat. It is SPF 30, The description on the bottle says "Banana Boats Kids Powder-Dri SPF 30 goes on like a lotion, dries like a powder on your skin so you won't feel it on.This advanced formula patented Avo Triplex technology for photostable, high UVA & UVB protection that lasts longer than ordinary sunscreens since it doesn't break down in the sun" Sounds good right?. Lets see!

Appearance

There is a blue cap and the bottle is yellow coloured, so its pretty basic in colouring and packaging. It has a groove on the left side of the bottle and a bumpy part on the right side. I don't know if this is done to make easier to grip on the bottle. If you take it to the beach, your hands are going to be wet if you have gone swimming and it the bottle is smooth, its easier to drop out of your hands because its slippery. So the design is pretty awesome.

Scent

It doesn't exactly smell of bananas, more of a fruity scent. This isn't a problem for me because I'm so used to non- smelling products ( I have an allergy to fragrances, so I spray perfumes onto my clothes, my allergy only makes my skin worse as opposed to something else.)  Its very fresh smell. However, those that are expecting a heavy, obvious banana smell will be disappointed.

Product

Its white in colour, it definitely feels and applies on the skin like lotion, although it does dry off like a powder, giving a light and airy feel. Although, with majority of sunscreens I've used it makes you a shade whiter, than your real skin tone. However, it isn't hugely noticeable, it fades after a while. I mix it in with my moisturiser and then apply them together.Since, it takes like 5 minutes to absorb into the face before you either go and swim or apply foundation/BB cream or primer or makeup onto the face (cheeks, forehead and chin).

Swatch ( its white and thick in consistency like lotion and it dries really quickly like powder).

Roughly blended (I squeezed out way too much, too swatch for this and I ended up putting some on my arm as well *fail*)

Fully blended (it makes my skin look whiter until its fully absorbed).

 Thumbs Up:

Nice fruity scent
Packaging is well thought out
Absorbs really well into the skin

Thumbs Down:

I can't think of anything right now.

^^ I highly recommend this sunscreen for anyone. I can't see why not all skin types can't use this product, since it dries off like a powder,  it suitable for those with oily skin, who don't want more products on their face.

Comment below and let me know what sunscreen you use? and if you have any more questions, then please ask me and I'll try to answer them. Take care of your skin and stay happy!

Im back + haul

Ah, its good to finally be back! I'm sorry about my hiatus, the last post was on the fifth of April~ I've been so busy lately. I hope everyone is doing well and is looking forward to the Summer, its time to get those brightly, coloured floral dresses out + other summer clothes, drink ice cold drinks and eat lots of ice cream whilst relaxing in the sun. I thought I'd start with a nice haul post of some things from the last month or so.

New tops and cardigan~!

First, I got three new tops from H&M. Actually, I was very surprised when I received it because the night before my mum washed one of my tops and it was made out of white lace, it somehow shrunk so much in the washing machine that it no longer fitted me and was better suited as a short lace top for my sister. So my mum promised to get me a new one, the one she got me. I actually prefer this, the lace is softer and its long sleeved. Thin fabric suitable for the hot weather but also the cooler weather as you can wear a cardigan over the top.

This horse print t-shirt, features different coloured horses, the long part is slightly longer than the front and the material feels like satin, smooth and silky and super light weight. I really like this top since its sleeveless, I prefer to wear a cardigan with it.

The last top is ...... this super fancy special occasion kind of top, its peach coloured with jewels/diamante/gems sewn onto the shoulder parts of the top. Its really cute and makes any outfit look a bit more fancy. I wore this when I, went to see the Rock Horror Show on the 11th of May for my friend's birthday. It was awesome, I would recommend you to see it too. :)

I got this wooly orange sherbet cardigan from Gilly Hicks, usually I'm not a big fan of this kind of brand but this was discounted so, I was like okay. It has pockets which are really important to me. It frustrates me that women's clothes don't have a lot of deep pockets *grrr...* lol.

Rilakkuma Contacts Case

This is a lens case that I bought for my contacts, its really cute and I've never one like this before. I've seen cartoon and animal ones.

Shoes & blue skirt

I got my first pair of creepers and I'm super happy, the material is more of suede and is a dusty pink in real life. Its heavy and doesn't fit me properly so I'm going to add insoles in. I already have three blisters :( so I will just wait for it to heal before wearing them again.

A cute blue skirt made of thin material perfect for the hot weather, completed with a tan fake leather thin belt.

That's it for today~ I hope you enjoyed this post and comecback to read my future posts. I'll leave you with pictures of food that I've eaten recently (tempura (endless amount) udon, Asian snacks and rice milk haul with my little sister and chicken katsu with rice (it was okay, I prefer the kind with lots of curry sauce).
